- An optical pigtail is an optical fiber on one end terminated by a tightly connected connector. Used to terminate optical cables by welding. When welding with a special welder, the free side of the pigtail is firmly attached to the cable. Pigtails are manufactured in both multimode and singlemode designs, as well as optical patch cables and fiber optic cables.
